winamp is raping my computer

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-14 2:53

It always requires 104 MB of my memory.  Every once in a while it hangs up my computer, it's always using a lot of CPU, it has this retarted bug when I try and delete a batch of files in the media library.  If it has any error with deleting any one of the files, it doesn't delete any of them BUT IT REMOVES THEM FROM THE LIBRARY.

Unless I can make winamp do what I want and not hang up my computer every half hour, I need a replacement.  What player is better than both Winamp and WMP(which is why I went to winamp in the first place)?

oh, and I would prefer a player that doesn't require an internet connection to validate any shit or is the bitch of some company like Apple or Microsoft.  It'd be nice if it played videos, but I'd really like it to be able to run some winamp plugins, cuz I have 64th note to play my .usf's.

Uninstall Winamp, delete folder, don't use Internet Explorer, install Winamp 5.x without modern skins.

I recommend foobar2000, or if you must use winamp and dont need the video feature, go with the last 2.xx release.

iTunes lol!

Seriously though, try out iTunes if you have some time.

Needs less Apple. Apple was always crappy with media.

Better idea: MusikCube.  Open source, and has a vaguely iTunes like interface.  Extremely fast library, but it's not much use to you unless you properly tag all your files.  Doesn't have most of the extra features that iTunes or winamp have, but it plays music, and isn't that the point?

hahaha yes. Maybe not on Macs, but on Windows their software sucks and has done for years.

This post is like a piece of truth smashed on your face hard.

Perhaps it's the skin your using.

I used to have a skin that looked fucking awesome, but used like 30% of CPU and 50mb of memory.

Erm, scrolling a few semi translucent should never use 30% cpu. Wait, unless, was this a 8MHz box?

If it's not offloaded to the graphics card, real translucency isn't cheap, even on a modern machine.
