My collegue constantly uses notepad to type in stuff like her email draft or quick notes etc etc .....not the major stuff but just stuff she just needs to type quickly.

So i have been wondering if there is a notepad alternative that is as simple as notepad, quick on loading but is better than notepad in some ways?

Notepad2 is awesome. Same look and feel if you disable the toolbar - but with some great features. Loads without any delay on my crappy machine.

PSPad is free and comparable or better than UltraEdit. Superior to Kate in features, and can be fully scripted.
