Overclocking help (2600XP)

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-11 14:37

Ive got an Athlon 2600Xp and Its been stable even up into the 70 degree range
cleaned out my fan now it idles at 45 and under load its only 56 (Used to get to the 75's then sometimes freeze)

So I figured I would try overclocking, except I know basically nothing, Google didn't come up with any answers I could use and after a bit of playing around I only managed to freeze my comp a few times

Multiplier is 12.5 (set to 13.5 and it froze after 10 minutes of high load)
CPU is 166/30 (i think its /30)
Vcore is 1.650 (And i can change this)

Messing with JUST the CPU and it wouldn't boot (tried 200/40, and 183/xx)
HAvne't touched the Vcore, but the only way to get it past windows was to JUST touch the Multiplier..

Any recomendations or sites?

do not run your pc at over 60 degrees

this is what I recommend

I have overclocked my 2.4ghz Intel to 3.0 (a 25% oc) and if it goes over 60c Asus Probe is set to beep like a motherfucker and if it ever hits 65c my pc will automatically turn off.

Don't fuck with overclocking f you don't know how bad it is to run a cpu at 60c

For approx 7 months I ran it at 61-64 degrees Idle, If it was going to die, It would have already

Messed with my settings abit, Memory Errors if I increase the FSB to over 180, Random shut downs if the multiplier goes any higher at all

And so far 175 (from 166) at Voltage of 1.750 (instead of 1.650) is stable and running fine, even under load.
gotta test that more, but the highest it has gone so far is 59 degrees

Meh, ran a CPU for four years at 78' idle. Yes we're talking celcius. No probs at all.

Don't change these.
