Hack-around Dell Hardware?

I own one of the first Dell Insperion XPS's (3.4ghz P4 +HT, 1 Gig of RAM, 256mb ATi Mobility Radeon 9800) and I've been trying my damnedest to get F.E.A.R to run with better perfomance than 10fps on minimum settings. Now, logistically know what I do know, I should be able to run this game better than what I'm getting.

Dell's drivers and download crap have a driver released on 9/05, while ATi has a newer driver for 2/06 and I've been curious to know if there is a way to hack around the Dell hardware so the video card will accept the drivers that can be downloaded off the ATi website?

there is no "dell hardware"

dell didn't make anything in that computer except the case. all the rest of the shit is just assembled parts they purchased from vendors. you can get all the same shit off newegg.

just install the fucking ati driver. or better yet, reinstall your whole os from scratch and start without the "personal edition" OS and all the shit spyware dell bundled with your system
