VLC Mac OS X Subtitle problems

Does anyone else use VLC for OS X? I can't get my subtitles to play, it errors every time with:

main: no suitable access module for `/Volumes/SEAGATE_HD/Video/Movies/Final Fantasy VII Advent Children [DVDRIP] [Sub Eng + Spa by Whistler] [www.pctorrent.com]/Final.Fantasy.VII.DVDRip.XviD-BiEN.srt'

Any ideas?

This was 0.8.2, same occurs with 0.8.4a. Works fine on Windows, but I don't have access to that machine at the moment.
