Quicktime video codecs?

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-24 1:12

So I just downloaded some videos, and some of them are a .mov format. I assumed they were quicktime videos and attempted opening them, but quicktime said I didn't have the codec, and thus only played audio.

Media player classic had the same result, and I tried the 3rd party codecs linked via quicktime.

Anyone know of any video codecs used by quicktime that would still be .mov format?

.mov is just a container; you can put almost any codec inside it.

Use G-spot to find out what codec is used.
Or just download CCCP and Quicktime alternative and be happy.

G-spot wasn't able to help, it picked up the audio layer as MP3, but didn't detect any video. I downloaded CCCP to try that first, and if that doesn't work I'll try quicktime alternative, thanks :O

and LOL, OP here, I just renamed the .mov to .avi, and now MPC plays em just fine.

GG, thanks again

Don't change these.
