Logging on to an audio ad?

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-11 17:41

Not twenty minutes ago I returned home and logged into my PC to be "greeted" by an audio advertisement from Qwest through my (RoadRunner) cable connection.  Basically what it containd was some inaudible chatter at the beginning, like random hallway noise, and then "Did you know you share your cable internet connection with everyone around you?  Qwest High speed internet services are available in your area."
And now I cannot replicate it by logging back in after double checking my firewall and even disabling it.  Has anyone ever had something like this show up?

Was it a Flash advert in a web page, perhaps? I hate those - especially when the Crazy Frog was the big thing.

Stop using Internet Explorer.

I only use IE once every few days to access a secondary email account.  anyway I did find the cause and it was an embedded ad within the programs provided by Time-Warner (which they just upgraded to allow that crap), my system never fully loaded the startup programs so it wasnt showing up whin my systray.

Don't change these.
