Region Free Dvd Player

Alright, this isn't quite computers, but it's the closest thing.

A certain DVD player has caught my eye: The Samsung DVD-HD850

Now, would it be possible to do a software (as in no physcial opening up and messing around of the internals) change to make it region free?

I already have some R2 DVDs, and will be getting more. I've been watching them on my Japanese PS2, but that is a bit limiting. Also, the fact that this player will up convert to HD is also quite appealing. And yes, I do have a TV with an HDMI connector. (Also, another reason I want this particular model is because it's at the store I work at, which means cheaper and faster to get it there)

Change of plans(maybe):

I found this: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Samsung+DVD-HD850

How relaible is that information? Is it guaranteed to work?

Also, how reputable and safe is http://www.regionfreedvd.net/?

They have a Samsung DVD-HD950 that is region free.

In my experience Samsungs are among the easiest players to region-hack. They basically have it built in right from factory. I'd say at least one of the possible hacks on that page is very likely to work for you.

I support and salute you for wanting to workaround this region nazism. Please send pictures of your achievements to sony, microsoft, universal, etc. and tell them to kiss it.

Don't change these.
