Creative is great, but then again it sucks

I've had a Audigy 2 ZS for a long time now, along with a great set of speakers.  I love the sound and all, but the actual Creative software seems to suck, hard.

To be specific, the Creative Graphic Equalizer.  Wtf?  For no *apparent* reason and far too often, the equalizer turns itself off.  You can definitely tell, because it suddenly sounds like the two rear speakers aren't transmitting any sound at all.  Once you open the equalizer menu, the sound cuts off for a second and then comes back as if everything was normal, and the equalizer works.  On top of that, it sometimes gives me an error if I try to open the equalizer, or even the EAX menu. 

I just don't get it.  No driver updates have helped, and Creative's support sucks.  Nothing on the forums, either.  Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Turtle Beach is the new old Creative.

Creative has sucked since they lost dominance once DOS went out of vogue.

Creative's software has always been shitty, their hardware used to be the industry standard, but nowadays a cheap on board chip does what 99% of people need.
