SDRAM

Stupid question; I am in need of a new RAM, what is an SDRAM? and is it compatible to any computer? I know about DDR and PCI but have no idea about SDRAM's.

SDRAM's are the old 100/133mhz ram and is not compatible with DDR. However most DDR rams are called "SDRAM". You should check on your mobo.

SDRAM means Synchronous Dynamic RAM and is an old technology. DDR means Double Date Rate which is an enhancement to SDRAMs to "boost" them up.
As >>2 suggested, check out your mobo to see which fits. If it only says SDRAM, then you only have the old slot which is incompatible with DDR(-SDRAM). DDR needs a better/newer slot to work with. DDR-RAMs are also bigger (they have more pins) and cannot be put on a SDRAM slot.
