whenever i mouse over a movie file which would usually show a preview window on the left side of explorer, explorer crashes. Im not sure what is the cause of the problem since it started doing this out of nowhere. Is it a codec problem? has anyone had this happen and know a fix for its? ( ′·ω·`)

Short-term fix: enter this - regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll into command prompt. This disables AVI preview (which is damn-near useless anyway since 95% of my AVI files have a black screen as the first frame).
Possible longer-term fix: in command prompt type sfc /purgecache then sfc /scannow. Have your installation CD handy. This may fix the problem, it may not. Explorer does tend to crash when trying to render a thumbnail for corrupted, badly-encoded or partially downloaded AVI files.
