Dreamhost often has other deals as well, like the old 7th anniversary one and the no setup on year plans.  I think they are based in LA, however, and the OP is looking for Asia.

Main reason I'm using them is that they allow adult content, hosting multiple sites on once account, reselling, and shell access, yet are still fairly cheap.

They're dirt cheap. You can't get cheaper without wandering into the twilight zone of fly-by-night operations.

Even so, Dreamhost is pulling out all the plugs recently. Makes me worry a little.

Well 1and1, for example, is down to 2.99$ per month for 250GB/transfer, which is more than most personal sites need.  Sure they have slow, outsourced support, but they are inarguably huge in terms of customers and have been around for years.  I think GoDaddy is at 3-4$/month, although I hear they have a limited control panel they wrote themselves instead of using cPanel or whatever.

You are giving something up for the low cost, but big companies like this aren't going to suddenly close up shop or have your site down for a week or something.

when will my site get approved?

I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.  My account info was in my email within half an hour.  I purchased via cc and they didn't call me up to confirm like some hosts do.  This was years ago, though, and they did mention on blog.dreamhost.com that cc fraud is increasingly a problem.  So maybe they spend more time checking now.

Note that domain names are a different matter.  The domain name information has to propagate and can take a day or two before working.  The email will have information with what server you are on (paperboy.dreamhost.com, etc.), and you can FTP and shell into that to work on the site until your domain name is up (or connect the two in your hosts file for full functionality if you know how).

Site5 had fantastic service, as of one year ago. Their claim of 15 min turnaround is true. Some of my problems were solved in 5 min. Amazing.
