I have a problem with my combo drive, it can only read DVD's but cannot read CD-ROMs or audio CD's. What could be the problem?

It's broken. I've seen this happen a dozen or more times on these combi drives. Sometimes they refuse to read CD-Rs, sometimes DVDs, sometimes pressed CDs. You just have to replace the drive.
