my cd-palyer stopped working overnight

Alright - i played around with my computer all day, and put in a futurama dvd to watch an episode before i go to bed. I watch it, go to bed, and now the dvd player isn't working anymore?

I can't even detect it through BIOS. What could be up? I havent touched the computer - at all - let alone moved it. Could there still be a wire lose or something inside of it?

Scanning for viruses right now...

does anyone have any tips? Coz i dont wanna take it to the store just to have to wait for atleast 2 weeks. It's my only contact with my gf :(

Is she backed up on a DVD?

if it's not showing up in the BIOS, it's more than likely toast.  Either that or it's not getting the right amount of power (PSU issue) or the ide cable somehow got loose (unlikely)

did you close the program, or was it running the "menu" all night? It might have overheated it.  If that's the case, then it would be time to fork over some cash to get a new DVD drive.  Also you might want to look into some extra cooling :P

Don't change these.
