2.4 is the last free version, if my memory serves correct.

2.* was also the last set of versions that weren't xbox.

IrfanView is Win98 shitware. It may have a ton of options and features, but by default it's a dried up pile of crap.

Gallery view, antialiasing, color-customizing, large filetype support.

I prefer Xnview.

Irfanview is one slow piece of shit, it scrolls slow as shit which must be crappy programming cos everything else scrolls properly.

I found IrfanView just too ugly to use and ACDSee was too bloated.  Ended up using Futurix Imager.

Not as fast as ACDSee but faster than others I've tried and not too ugly.

I remember ACDsee for Win 3.1  It opened all of my corrupted files with no problem.

ACDSee is still the only viewer that managed to split the browser from the viewer. If newer versions are too bloated, get ACDSee 3.1. Nicely unbloated and still handles most formats in use today. You can also try ViX, a japanese freeware viewer (comes with English language). It's nice, fast and small, handles tons of formats and has some useful processing functions (scaling, cropping, concatenating, even some basic Photoshop-layer processing). Too bad development seems to have stopped...

I think I'll start using ACDSee 32, thanks a lot guys.

IrfanView is nice. I tried acdsee but it\'s too slow to load, and it doesn\'t let you just open and paste in clipboard like in IrfanView.

irfanView renders kind of slow, though.

That's the problem of all new bloated versions of every app.
