Is there a way to get the task manager CPU tray icon without having a task manager minimized the whole time. I use a slow laptop and I would like to see when the CPU usuage shoots up so I know when to be patient.

Windows Task Manager -> Options -> Hide When Minimized
I didn't even know you could do that until I spent about 10 seconds looking. You're using XP, right?

Okay, now that >>3 has answered my original question, is there a shortcut to open Task Manager in minimized mode? Possibly similar to loccing the workstation using an entry point in a DLL via rundll or something?

After googling I found out that Task Manager is taskmgr.exe. So I made a shortcut and set it to start minimized. Then I put that in my Startup folder and now I have a nice CPU monitor.
