New Computer

Good news is I got a new computer. Bad news is importing files, especially my mp3s. What's the best way to go about this? Considering the fact that my old computer's CD-RW only burns at 4x speed, and takes about 20 minutes to burn a CD, not to mention all the wasted CD-Rs to do the job.

Why not network them, or put old computers drive as a slave in new computer.

Networking sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how to hook up the old drive to the new computer, especially when the computer's gonna be used by someone else.

hello dere,
Kindly ask that person to stop using the computer, then go ahead and install the old hard drive as slave.
problem solved! :)

You can temporarily hook it up, to transfer files. When done put it back in the old computer.

Hooking up the drive is very self explanitory, you just gotta match the cables and set the drive jumper for which the drive has instructions on it's cover. Even if your new computer uses different cables for hard drive you can hook your old hard drive on the CD-Rom cable.

Alright, I guess I can try that. If I can figure it out. I never had to install any kind of drive before. Well, except for that one time I exchanged a CD-ROM drive with a CD-RW.

If you really want to simple it down, take the hard drive out of the old computer, put it on something to hold it up and take the cables out from the cdrom and put them into your hard drive instead, no jumper settings neccesary. Just make sure you put the cables right way.. which should be easy if you already have tried installing a cdrw, it'll be the same shit all over again with a smaller drive.

Don't change these.
