Hmm. Manufacturer of quality hard drives buys manufacturer of crappy but ubiquitous hard drives... I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

Probably gonna be good thing. Maxtors ain't that bad at drives. With maxtor it was just a luck game, you either get a clunker or you get a diamond, the lucky ones work like a charm without failing for years while the clunkers break fast. I've been lucky with them so far, I've got 3 of maxtors which have never broken, even 2 of them are on 24/7. So who knows, maybe they'll churn out some better drives now. I wouldn't mind if they did, I quite like maxtor.

I got a diamond. Anyways i think it will be a good thing as seagate has got quite a high reliability rate

It appears after reading into this that they are gonna merge under the name of seagate. I think I'm gonna buy myself a new maxtor main drive to replace my old one incase they should stop being produced :p I like the name maxtor

Enjoy your corrupted aids?

What are you talking about, maxtor don't corrupt data, wdc do, maxtor just stops working if it's clunker one.

Don't change these.
