Changing File Manager - concerning LSXcommand

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-20 13:30

So I installed Total Command, and it seems good to me (even though the Rightclick->New dialogue is now slower than ever) but using litestep and LsxCommand 1.9.4 I can't seem to make it open folders in TC instead of Explorer.

Changing the filemanager in evars.rc did not help, and looking through the documentation of LsxCommand I found nothing of use.

Example of problem if my explanation isn't good enough:
Typing "E:\programs\misc\litestep" will still open in Explorer instead of Total Command.

I'd appreciate any help.

What version of LiteStep, and what version of Windows?  Also, was Explorer running when you installed TC?  It sounds like a registry change or two didn't get committed, which is why Exploder is still your default file manager.

Using Litestep 0.24.7 RC4, had explorer running when I installed litestep and I've never known that litestep had some other filemanager. Is a re-install with explorer turned off in order?

Not of LS.  And LS shouldn't care what your file manager is.  However, it's clear that Windows is still handing off directories to Explorer.  Instead of the drastic measure of reinstalling LS, get a shell switcher if you don't already have one (I remember Omar's installer once coming with one), switch back to Explorer temporarily (it'll need you to log out and back in), and try again installing Total Command.  Then, with TC working in Explorer, switch back to LS and see if it doesn't work then.

Don't change these.
