How to find out the codec ?

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-11 12:03

I transferred the Mahoraba Anime subed by Froth Bite from my old PC to my new one and now I can't watch it. VLC, Zoom Player, Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player 10 give me neighter video nor sound.

My Question: How do I find out the codec that is used? So I can install it.

The files are .avi if that is relevant.

it's just DivX, you can use XviD to decode DivX'es.

And since you're on windows i'd advice you to use Koepi's binary package for XviD. Located at: http://koepi.org/XviD-1.0.3-20122004.exe

Have a nice day :)

I recommend you use ffdshow, a single free codec that plays most things (including DivX) and has a postprocessing effects stack to improve videos by sharpening, adding or removing noise, correct perspective, zoom, and many many more neat things.

Don't change these.
