hard drives

help anonymous!
 I wana get a nice big fat hard drive.. the 300gb ones floating around seem nice, but I dont know which brands are better. I know enough to avoid deathstars, but others? how about seagate and western digital?

I've heard a lot of bad stuff about Maxtor, so I'd avoid them if I could.
