Stop Error code after Hardware upgrade

Name: Exceter 2005-12-09 18:20

I need some serious help before i break my damn PC.

I recently upgraded my PC to an AMD 64 3200+ on an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with a PCIe Radeon X800 XL. Now after booting, it gives me a stop error blue screen with the error code:

STOP: 0x0000007e (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF88BA0C0, 0xF88B9DBC)

strange thing is. Windows XP Home Edition boots up to safe mode and safe mode with networking just fine. It has no problems there. but it stops when booting normally.

im not sure what to do to fix this damn thing, so any help will be much appreciated

What does it say immediately below the STOP: message? That part gives a better idea of the nature of the error. Prime suspect would be shitty video driver, I reckon.

thing is, I have the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI. I've never had this problem before until I upgraded to PCIe. This is why I stick to AGP, but with the new motherboards, they leave you with no choice. aside from that Stop message, nothing else. just that code error. I just finished updating everything too. and still, i get that stop error.

Get the latest drivers/BIOS for your MB, latest Catalyst, then re-install XP from *scratch*. Update XP, then add the Catalyst (no other progs whatsoever) and see if it works. If yes, keep adding drivers/progs etc.. If no, you know the culprit...

Don't change these.
