USB dont wurk

I'm using XP and my PC has a multi-memory card/USB port built in to the front, as well as 3 USB ports in the back. Suddenly they have all stopped responding. Usually under My Computer the memory slots will show up as G, H, I, J, etc. When I plug something in (game controller, light-up USB cable), the device will receive power, but my PC doesn't recognize or respond to it at all. I've reinstalled the drivers multiple times but to no avail; it keeps finding the new hardware and installing it but still doesn't respond when I plug something in.

Do they at least show up in the hardware list (Control Panel) ?

No, they do not show up anywhere (My Computer, Control Panel, PC Doctor). The USB hubs show up in Device Manager (and say they're working properly when they obviously aren't), but the memory card slots do not.

Not to mention the administrator at my old boarding school turned off System Restore :|

Try installing an older version of the drivers?
