Buying a new LCD monitor

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-01 20:00

hay guys

I currently have an Acer AC901 19" which gets very hot (it's summer here in Australia and above my desk are shelves which hold my folders of schoolwork etc so all the heat gets trapped under them) and I'm looking to buy a 19" LCD monitor. Hopefully this won't generate as much heat and might be a little nicer to work with.

I do play a lot of games (especially now that I'm on holidays) so refresh rate is important to me. What's a good number to aim for that won't attract a large price tag?

Can anyone suggest any good monitors (with good warranty) around the AU$300-500 mark?

Thanks!

8ms, And make sure its not just Grey 8ms (some will be grey 8ms, Color 16ms) Which is HURTINGLY slow

Anything more and there is too much ghosting

For a 19" you would pay like 400$ USD though... they aren't cheap

I have a Hyundai L90D+ 19", great monitor. I paid it €370, which is almost AU$600 according to Google, though. You'd have a hard time finding a high quality one in your price range, you should consider a 17" or giving it a larger budget.

You want a CRT monitor instead. Half the money, over twice as good, just takes space from where you don't need it.

Well done on not reading the first post.
"Q. My CRT makes my room too hot. What LCD should I get?"
"A. Get a CRT."

So basically you're saying you need even very easily deduced facts spelling out to you? When did you ever hear of an LCD producing complaint-worthy levels of heat?

Yeah sorry, I didn't mention I had a CRT D:

Might have to just go for a 17" LCD then :(

ViewSonic VX922. Hands down. I just got myself one. No ghosting whatsoever, and sweet formfactor.
