I need help on my gateway

Name: Anonymous 2005-11-25 20:38

I just bought a gateway (black friday / best buy ) that cost me $1100 (after being tricked into being billed an extra 118 dollar for crap software I didn't want). After turning it on with everything plugged in, it worked fine. When I shut it down, and turn it back on again later in the day, a Media Test Failure error appears. When I plug in the ethernet cable into the computer and turn on the computer, I get a E53 no boot name file recieved error. Does this mean my hardrive died?

hooray for black friday...and boo too.. I'm gonna piggyback on this thread to vent my anger about those f*ckers that cut in line 30 minutes before the store opens and screw things up for people that have been in line for seven hours to get a damn laptop...anyways, since we're on the gateway subject, this one might be more simple, I got one too, works fine so far, but every time I press a key on the "backspace","enter","page up & down", it seems to go down with the area (meaning those keys move a little downwards) might be nothing, but maybe I should return it a get one that doesn't do that...

comments?

YOU GOT THE ADVANCED SECURITY SETUP WITH SPYSWEEPER 4.5 AND NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2006 INSTALLED, PLUS SOME REGISTRY ENTRIES ADDED TO YOUR PC'S CONFIGURATION TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT'S RUNNING FASTER, PLUS YOU GOT ALL THE LATEST WINDOWS UPDATES.

dont know about that the new ones, but thats been normal for hp laptops since the p3 days. theres bracing under there to keep you from crushing important shit, but there IS a little flex room. thats normal.

i wish they had metal-backed keyboards like the old gateways :(

first step when you get a new machine with windows already installed is what kids?

REINSTALL WINDOWS. if you cant, or it doesnt recognise your hdd in the installer then yea, the hdd died. otherwise it was all the vendor-installed spyware dragging your system straight into the ground

you could have built that computer for $600

unless it's a laptop. Oh well, I fail.

You still fail for getting a gateway from best buy. Next time go to the source for a better warranty and you won't get a moron representative.

It was Spysweeper and Pc-cillian. The installion by the "geek squad" cost more than the software itself. $83 of the 118 just for them to install the crap. I could have gotten those for free off some people I know. I also could have downloaded the latest windows updates off windows.com. Bleh I am going to reinstall windows
