Please help me with this router ; ;

I am trying to connect two pcs together using this befw11s4 v4 as it has wireless ability, and I truly need it to be wireless for this.

My problem is that after connecting the working cable modem to the router, then connecting the pc to slot 1, I am unable to connect to http://192.168.1.1 t o configure it.

I have tried the Netset utility on linksys's main site, also to no avail.

If I try an Ipconfig I get

DNS = blank

IP add = 68.191.249.17
subnetmask =255.255.252.0
default gate = 68.191.248.1

I am really confused at this entire endevor, building a pc was nowhere as confusing as this.

It is compounded as I need to setup this on an older compaq, I have no idea what he may have installed on this, but I havent been able to detect any firewalls.

I wont be able to get ANY internet on my pc unless I can hook up this router I wont go into detail about that, but please any help would be appreciated ; ;

I would just test it on my pc, but my monitor is being shipped, and the guy is anal about his pc, well ignorant <_<

???? i didnt understand a damn thing u said there .. i have a link sys wireless router .. and it was easy to set up .. tho i do have networking experiance .. any who .. reset the router .. it has a button to reset it hold it down for like 10 sec. then using the ip address givin to u from the manual or linksys site access it and program it.. its easy.. maybe.? lol

It sounds like the router's DHCP isn't running, or at least not functioning correctly. I'm going to agree with the reset suggestion.

i tried resetting ; ; Several times, then tried turning off modem, router, pc, then turning on in that order so the card would detect it >_>

sigh, think it could be this pc? I need to test this thing on mine <_<

Open your browser and type in the router's IP address. 

Is it a bad idea to have another router connecting to the main router acting as a switch?

Manually set an IP address for your network card. If the router defaults to 192.168.1.1, set your IP address to 192.168.1.2 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1). If it's an older PC, and it's running Windows 98 or whatever, DHCP frequently won't work properly.

ummm, i figured it out.... The guy gave me a paper bag with two linksys routers, some cables and many different power supplies.

I wasnt using the correct PS, causing the router to turn on and off constantly I am assuming.

I tried all the different power supplies, and found the correct one.

All is good now ^^ thank you so much for suggestions regardless! ^^

befsr11 and befsw11 are the shittiest routers linksys makes, so bad that I thought linksys was crap for a long time before I realized that most of their hardware is decent
