i broke windows

My computer (or hard drive, or Windows) has met its end. My computer was messing up, so I restarted. Then it came to the "Windows did not start properly, choose Safe Mode or Last Known Good Configuration". Choosing Safe Mode lists a bunch of drivers then freezes. Last Known Config turns the screen to black and freezes.

Changing to fail-safe defaults in the BIOS menu does nothing to help.

So, liek, wat can I do to help fix my windows problem ?! :)

Repair install time. Boot from your Windows CD, press Enter at the first screen, then "r" at the screen after the license agreement. Windows will then reinstall itself, but without destroying existing data, software installed, etc. Works about nine out ten times for non-bootable systems, in my experience.

2 gives good advice. If that doesn't work, it's time to get knoppix, save all your data and do a clean format.

My advice?  Boot into a shell and run CHKDSK /f.

If you have 2000 or XP, boot the OS CD, then run the Recovery Console and use this command:
CHKDSK /R
And then this command:
FIXMBR
Then boot normally.

Don't change these.
