PC 3200 vs PC2700

im thinking about getting new ram, i currently have 512 of PC2700, my friend tells me i need PC2700 but some other forums make it seem like i can use PC3200, can i use pc3200 or do i need pc2700
mobo:
Asus A7V8X-LA (Kelut)  (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN, IEEE-1394)
Current RAM:
512 MB  (PC2700 DDR SDRAM)

I wouldn't recommend mixing the 2700 with the 3200. You can use the 3200 RAM without a problem though as long as the memory bus can support that speed.

Faster RAM isn't compatible with slower RAM. If you use a 3200 chip with your 2700 it will just act like it's 2700.
