My current computer has an AMD Sempron processor running at ~1.8 gHz, 768 MB of RAM, and some sort of integrated video controller. I'm planning to upgrade it a bit so i can play newer games, such as Half-life 2 etc. I know i have t buy a decent vid card, but what kind of a card would you recommend? Any other suggestions about the processor etc? Thanks in advance.

As for the processor, I would recommend checking out the games you want to play and see what requirements go for processor speeds, if none of them have high requirements then your fine. As for video cards I am not sure which ones are the best at the moment but try looking up brands such as nvidia or ATI or something like that. Those seem to be very popular for usage.

get an nvidia 6800gt. not top of the line, but more than powerful for what you'll prolly want to play, and won't break the bank either
