While removing ZoneAlarm Firewall a while back I hit a really stange problem. When I attempted to uninstall the process only got as far as shutting down the "TrueVector Internet Monitor" before my whole system rebooted. I figured this was just part of the process, but when I got to my desktop ZoneAlarm was still running (with the TrueVector). Everytime I tried to remove this firewall I hit the same problem.
I contacted ZoneAlarm's tech support, no awnsers. I tried google next, found a few articles on removing ZoneAlarm and TVIM manually. This was a huge mistake. I follow the directions to the letter, removing all the registry files and everything, but maybe one or two wouldn't delete due to an error. Ok I figured, out of the lot I did delete these few wouldn't make the difference. I soon discovered I couldn't access the internet at all now. Super.
I system restore, but I was still stuck with a program I didn't want and was obstructing my connection (I was removing it because it was seriously slowing down my connection even when it was properly configured).
Why would my whole system reboot when trying to remove this annoying program? I never experienced this uninstalling any program, so was it just ZoneAlarm or was it my hardware? If it's just ZoneAlarm, let my post serve as warning to those wanting to use it as your Firewall.
