Compressed File Help

I have what I believe is a .zip'ed file, (unknown file extension, but after renaming it .zip, it opens in WinAce v2.5) but I'm unable to actually uncompress it. The files in the folder for some reason have an "*" in front of them, and the Method and Attr read as mostly random ASCII. I'm all very new to all this, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. A friend suggested that it may be another compression format, but I'm stumped as to what it may be (he said something about .7zip, but I'm a total noob when it comes to these things).

I suspect it's a password-locked archive. Without the password you won't be able to extract the files.

Okay, well, I found out that it is passworded, but I found out what it was but still can't figure out how to get it to extract properly.
