CMSS on Creative Audigy Sound Cards

I am just wondering what this option really does. I noticed it makes things sound more 3d, and there is Standard, CMSS and CMSS 2. In videogames the CMSS 2 sounds good but for music does it make it sound anybetter...to me it's just louder.

Is it just meant for games?
