my usb wifi adapter (dwl-122) died on me, and i'm looking for a nice replacement. it wasn't very good, but i had gotten it for free. what do you think is the best wardriving wifi adapter? antenna design?

Generaly, each brand has it's own designe. Usually a network will run better when you use the same brand of router and networking card. Companies always tweek their hardwear so it works best together. So I'm saying, what ever brand you have for a card, try to get the same with your router.

USB wireless ethernet adapters suck. Get a PCMCIA or miniPCI one, preferrably with a moddable or external antenna.
ORiNOCO cards are, as far as I've heard, good cards for wardriving.
