Scuttling Playstation2

I'm getting kind of tired of my PS2. I rarely play any games on it these days and only really use it for watching DVDs. But, my computer can do that now. I don't want to just sell the thing off if it still has some use to me. So, what I was wondering is if there is a way to remove the motherboard, load an os onto it, and use it as a full-fledged pc. If the UN had to ban all sales of PS2s in Iraq for fear that Saddam could use it as a super-computer to hack the Pentagon, I want in on its processing power. You guys know of any way I could do this?

Good luck finding it in your local stores, though.  Took me about 2 months to lay my hands on a still-celophaned copy earlier this year.  (I don't believe in ebay)
