wtf, im behind a firewall and i can send/receive msn filesends with no ports open. and aim shouldnt be blocked even if ports are closed.

torrents is a normal ports issue though... hmmm, sounds like there blocking inbound AND outbound traffic at the gateway, unless its your gateway/router your probably fucked

Everyone in this building is affected. Not just me. They can't use torrent, can't use AIM. No one has a router. we just use a lan cable and it connects to internet.

The whole point of a firewall is it's not supposed to be bypassed. There's no way to "go around" a firewall.

Yes, you're on a router. If you're using a LAN and connected to the Internet, a router is involved. Your router probably has only a few ports open. Get clients that allow you to change ports (such as GAIM and Bittornado). If nothing else, port 80 will be open.

My guess is that it's a building-wide internet connection through a building-wide LAN.  In this case, you'll need to find the administrator and ask about being able to use AIM, etc.

You can tunnel over HTTP but it'll be slow.
