Power suply death, need sugestions

Name: Anonymous 2005-10-05 4:22

well, my cheapass korean("beantech") $20 power suply finally bit it after 6 or 7 years of solid use, so now i need another one. i wouldnt get another cheap shit one, so im looking at:
seasonic 80plus/S12
Antec truepower 2.0 or Neo HE
Enermax noisetaker
PC power and cooling silencer

max budget is about $80(cheaper is better, obviously) and it doesnt need to be 5000 watts, this is not a cray X1. 400 watts or 380 will do it.

so, /comp, what would you recomend. any of those, something else?...

if you aren't on the flaky american power grid just buy another beantech. they obviously gave you your money's worth once already

if you are, though, just hit up newegg.com and look at the most expensive PSU in your price range. Then search the net to see who else has it cheaper.

It sounds like you really want to make a good decision, so I give you this pilgrim:

Excellent tutorial on what PSUs come down to, and it addresses the fact that most manufacturers are fucking liars, even the big guys.

Wow, your $20 POS outlasted mine by 5 to 6 years.

I use an Antec TrueBlue 350W PSU now.  I can't vouch on how good it is, but I like it, and I can tell you that so far, it hasn't had any problems.

Antec or Enermax, stay away from cheap PSUs

Enermax not so good. Antec usually is good though. http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=1359

fails for review being done on 230v/240v power. which is completely diffrent from testing it on 120, hell, most power suply specs have totally diffrent max wattages/max amps/efficiency ratings depending on what current there on

a shitty one in the us could work great in the uk, or vice versa.

and thanks for the firing squad link, although i was more looking for first hand experiance(hopefully in actual months/years of usage, not just a 3 day review test)

Why would any country use a 120v power grid anyway? So much lossage due to inefficiency.

Don't change these.
