I recall sometime ago, a user showed off his application thingy that would trace an image back to its original source.... anyone here happened to know of such programs?

Also, I'm looking for a program that would trace and delete duplicate picture files. Any recommendations?

I think the guy was referring to a program that will find an image with max quality. You know how many recompressed images and resizes pass through 4chan, IIchan, et al.

The only tool there is the eye. Due to the behaviour of JPEG, sometimes smaller (filesize) JPEG files look better than larger ones, even if they came from the same lossless source.
