cant install a soundcard.

i have an aincient soundcard tht i cant install.i have the driver programs,but i cant get them to work.do i put them on a MS-DOS disk?im computer retarded so i dont know how.

If the drivers aren't compatible with your OS, consider yourself up the creek without a paddle.  Look for up to date drivers.

Of course, that's a complete shot in the dark because there's nowhere near enough info in your post to help.  What OS are you trying to install the drivers for?  What OS were the drivers made for?  What soundcard is it?  Etcetcetc.

ah.im running xp pro.the drivers are compatible,but i downlaoded the 98 version instead of the xp version.it said the 98 version should work with xp......id downlaod the other one but since i have to port it form a mac to a pc,its difficult.the mac wont DL the xp install file.the card is a diamond technology DT03987. i think its like 5 years old.

Driverguide.com lists several drivers for the DT-0398, including ones for XP (the 7 on the end may be a revision number or something - Google shows no results for a search for that model number, but plenty when searching for "DT-0398").

And what are you talking about having to download the files on a Mac for? What does that have to do with anything?

i accidently put the 7 there and didnt notice,my bad.my pc isnt online yet,so i have to download files from my mac and burn them to a cd and then put them on the PC.thanks for the site,im sure it will help........ill be sure to check after i get home from school.

Driverguide is one of the most useful sites out there for anyone who regularly works with lots of different PC hardware. The mandatory login is a little bit of a pain, but that's what we have bugmenot.com for, isn't it?
