trouble with sound card installation.

ive got a soundcard here,to ashamed to say what it is............but i cannot get it installed.i downlaoded he driver ifles and put them on a floppy,but it wont install.do i have to format the disk as a MS-DOS starup disk thingie?im...........not very computer literate,so im kinda lost.......any help would be nice.

Assuming you're using Windows, go to "Add New Hardware" in the Control Panel and work from there.

No, having the driver files is all you need, assuming said drivers *are* compatible with whatever version of Windows you're using. Find the sound card in Device Manager, right-click and choose update driver, then tell it you want to choose manually the drivers to install. Eventually you will get to a point where you can choose the driver location, where you should point it to the .inf file on the driver disk. If it still complains that it could not find driver information for the sound card, you downloaded the wrong driver.
