My wife's WinXP halflife seems to be up

Takes about 5 minutes to load MSN messenger - and that's from the systray. All because she insisted on installing Windows so she could talk to retarded Chinese companies who use MSN's proprietary VoIP instead of a real service.

For now let us mock her. Later I'm going to book Knoppix to try to restore some semblance of order without having to go through the agony of a reinstall.
