HELP!!

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-12 22:49

ok..i know it's stupid but i need serious help. Ok this is what happened. i have two logins, one that i barely use, mainly for guest, and the other for myself. i check for spywares/viruses frequently. by accident, i loggined my other account, and Ad-ware starting popping up all these warning signals, saying something about  something trying to reach my comptuer or something. Since i don't know much bout computers, i just decided to block EVERYTHING, about 30. after that's done, this problem occured. My computer seems to have trouble running .exe files. It does not know what to open it with. everytime i try to open one, this pop up pops up asking me what to do, find some program on the list or look it up on the net, but none works i think. can i get some help??

Try this: http://filext.com/WinXP_EXE_Fix.reg
Go to that site, then go File+Save, save your .REG file, then from Windows Explorer double click it.

Ok i have a problem.. it might be a simple/stupid one.. all my shortcuts stopped working. i tried opening a winamp shortcut but it asked me what should i open it with..so i clicked on winamp and pressed "always use this program for these files" or something like that..and now all my shortcuts opens winamp when i press on them. even new shortcuts that i make..how do i fix this?

The association for .lnk files is messed up. You should have pointed it to Winamp, because now Windows assumes that all .lnk files are to be opened in Winamp. You need to restore the association. Download the registry fixes for a whole bunch of file types from here...

Of course, my choice would be a clean install; if you've got such fundamental problems in Windows due to spyware/adware/virus infections, you're bound to just keep coming across these niggling problems that don't often have obvious solutions. But your choice, of course.
