Is it possible to emulate Windows on a Mac?

A friend offered me a good deal on a resonably powerful mac, but I'm looking for a gaming PC.  Since, to my knowledge, neither Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry or Call of Honor are available on a mac (basically, it has no FPSes, someone correct me if I'm wrong), can you emulate windows on it?  I think I've heard of this being possible, I just don't remember how or with what.  Is it possible to play any of the games listed above on a mac?  Just as importantly, can you play any of them online on a mac, assuming you can get them to play at all?

There's UT2004 and im sure Doom3 is on mac cos ID port their games. You could use virtualPC to emulate winXP, but it will most likely degrade performance.

OSX is quite capable of running WINE. It tends to be a bitch to get it working with any particular game though. Consider a Cedega subscription. Cedega is slightly less of a bitch.
