I have a Toshiba A75-S206 that has a bevy of issues. It just had to go in for service. The heatsink wasn't good enough to stand up to a P4, so it kept giving me heat-based lockups at full clip, so I had to run it at 1.8ghz when it could go up to 2.8ghz. Even so, I had to prop it up on a couple of CD cases so the fans could suck up enough air. But if I was using the HDD too much (like running Scandisk or Ad-Aware), bam, it's killed for an overheat.
What's worse, the palm rest isn't properly grounded, so whenever I touched the damn thing, it ran the risk of locking up.
It should be back in a week. Has anyone had similar problems with Toshibas? Any other preventative solutions or maintenance I could try?
Failing that, anyone think I could sell it secondhand and make back the $800 I initially spent on it in March from a guy on craigslist?
