I'm looking for a good thumb drive to replace my 16meg that I stole from my girlfriend's brother. I'd like for it to have a loop to carry it on a keychain or a belt clip to carry it on a belt. At least 256mb, maybe 512mb, and password/fingerprint security are plusses, although unnecessary.
It's gotta be durable enough to survive in my pocket with my keys. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Horror or success stories?

Corsair make a good drive in their Flash Voyager series - reliable and good transfer rate, and a five year warranty IIRC, but they are a bit bulky, and the rubberized coating tends to get covered in pocket fluff. I've an LG drive as well, which has served me fine so far, and was a very good price for a 1Gb drive. If it's going to be kicking around in a pocket, however, you might want to look for one with a captive cap, or at least one which is doesn't fall off easily - if you lose the cap and leave the drive in your pocket with the USB connector exposed, the drive is not likely to live very long (and I speak from personal experience). Most drives come with password locking software included (both of mine did), so that's a bonus.
Is the LG drive bootable? All I'd really need is less than a meg to create a Win98 rescue disk so I can boot to an XP CD that's not working out for an old Thinkpad laptop.
I think that the CD-ROM drive might be bad, so this'll at least help me pin it down...

Yes, yes it is - the utility with it can set it up to do that. It's this drive, by the way...
