security alerts take over, What the fuck

Name: Blackfallout !qLeDfZK5nM 2005-09-07 10:18

Because world4ch sucks so bad (from my expirence ) I cant(or dont know how)
to post the pic of what happened, so I'll try to tell you what happened
but this is going to suck so here goes,it says its a Security Alert and then it has a(logo)or whatever called Symantec. It says:

Your computer is at risk in the following areas:

-Virus protection is out of date

Open your norton product to resolve these issues.

    (chech mark box)
To prevent duplicate security status alerts, use my existing norton
product alerts and turn off redundant windows security center alerts.
     (Recommended)

     ................................................................

                                  [OK]

thats what it says but the main problem is every time I click OK it comes
back in 2 to 15 seconds EVERY TIME and its on top of every window even on top of Task manager and my games , and the check mark box checked or unchecked hasnt done anything so fare, so I dont know how to get rid of it so someone help. PLEASE.

The standard way is to put your pic on imageshack and link to it.

I remember when Norton wasn't owned by... whoever it is who owns them now. Back when it was just Peter Norton hacking insanely awesome stuff for DOS.

Indeed.  Now it's Symantec, and they've been destroying his name for years.  When Peter Norton wrote the stuff, it was priceless.  Now, since Symantec changed so much it might as well have been rewritten from scratch, it's worthless.

Get rid of everything Symantec and shop around for alternatives.  At my ISP, I get more complaints about Symantec's stuff than any other firewall, antivirus, or utility software.

Forgot to add that on half the calls I field there's no fix, and both Symantec and Google are helpless.

Exactly, those were the days! Peter Norton was the IT version of Vin Diesel. Now Symantec has disgraced Norton's name and legend >_< .

>>1
Get rid of Symantec software, use AVG for an anti-virus.

Since it looks like Intel are gonna be buying Grisoft maybe AVG is gonna go the way of Norton too.

There needs to be some punishment for big companies buying and wrecking cool little companies with cool little products. Remember ICQ?

Shit. What would we use then? Panda Software's online scan, maybe?

I remember ICQ.  I also remember AOHell snapping it up _after_ its own AIM became solidly established.  As I recall, there was rumor it was to keep MSN out of the IM game.  The same is not true with Intel and Grisoft.  (Actually, I haven't even heard that rumor.)

>>1 and >>11
Panda ActiveScan (needs Internet Exploder) is one option.  I also haven't heard much bad about their pay-for stuff, except for it costing money.

Don't change these.
