BFG Video Cards

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-06 22:25

If I bought a BFG Tech video card, since they come overclocked, would the fan they come with suffice for cooling, or would I need a water cooling system?

Also, if I plan to SLI configure 2 7800 GTX's in the future, what sized power-source would I want to get?

A: I don't think you realize what it is you're saying.

B: If the stock cooling wasn't good enough, do you think they would be selling them if 100% of the shipped cards would be overheating unless you replaced the heatsink/fans?

C: If you want to have a 7800GTX SLI-setup, unless you spend a grand on a cpu, it'll be overkill.

D: Well, I'm not buying the 7800GTX's to run notepad...

A, B I can accept. Ty

The cooling should be adequate as BFG provides top-notch graphics cards. As for the power supply, it really isn't about the watts. Many companies say they have 600watts, though in certain tests but they perform very poorly compaired to other PSUs with lower wattage ratings. What you want to look for in a PSU is a brand name, plenty of certifications (I could go into specific ones but you can do that yourself), and also high power ratings in correlation to the +-12v rail. Other rails are important too, but the 12v one is the most important; companies can get high wattage ratings on other railings and claim a superior PSU, but really they should only rate the wattage on the 12v rail.

Thanks a bunch for the help, will look into the certifications and ratings.

Don't change these.
