Motherboard: "Click, Click"

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-03 18:34

Just got finished putting together my new system and powered it up. The motherboard immediately started making "click" noises for about 10 seconds, then the system shuts down. I beg the wise users of /comp to help me solve this problem.

System Specs: Chaintech CT-7NJL6 (Motherboard), AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (CPU), Pair of Dual Channelled 512 MB 'Ultra' brand PC3200 DDR 400 MHz RAM, Maxtor 160 GB HDD, Samsung DVD+/-DL RW

I checked the "support" page for the motherboard and it mentioned a common problem involving the computer powering up for a short while, then shutting down (Sounds similar right). Now the proposed solution to this is to  make sure that the heatsink and the CPU have thermal compound applied and that the heatsink is securely fitted against the CPU. After trying this twice, I'm unsure it's the correct solution.

Motherboards frequently have an onboard PC speaker which is capable of making tones or click-y noises.
