Movies downloaded online question.

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-28 7:20

A few movies I've downloaded sometimes show that they need to acquire a license or something...well, wherever they were being hosted must have faded away, and now I have like 30-some movies of various media (multiple Winders file formats as well) from 3-8 MB that ask for a "license" and yet can't connect to wherever they were supposed to be getting the licenses from. Is there a player that bypasses this, or a way to cut the movie separate from whatever copy protection is there with a movie making program?

That's Digital Rights Management bullshit. Think of it like this: if a vid needs DRM, you don't need it. Just delete these files and forget they ever existed, DRM is for R¡AA/|V|PAA/M$/Apple/industry faggots.

I've noticed there are a few motherfuckers sharing this kind of bullshit in eMule to poison it; the second you notice you want to download a .WMV vid and find you're being given all chunks at once by fast servers, cancel it. I just search for AVI or MPG only; in the search box, just type

<your favorite fetish> NOT wmv

I hereby request that we boycott the use of the term DRM and instead use the more accurate DRI. The I is for Infringement.

lol close but half a cigar. Only like 10 are (supposed to be) porn.

What's it doing, specifically? Is it like a legal Trojan/keylogger? And yeah half of them came from eMule.

I probably don't, since whatever website they wanted to connect to doesn't work.

DRM makes your computer athenticate itself to be able to play the video. It's possible to bypass some older versions of DRM sometimes provided you have an older version of Windows Meda Player 9 and the right tools (search doom9 forums). I'd give you a  <1% chance of succeding should you try.

There might be some way to brute force them but I've never read anything on it. Best just to delete them.

Don't change these.
