I'm looking for a decent orthodox file manager for Linux, i.e. something like Norton Commander.
Before you mention Midnight Commander, refer to the "decent" part. MC doesn't have a real shell; you can't see the results of what you run; you have to hit Ctrl+O, and it has a lot of problems with that too. Besides, it has several bugs related to where you actually are when you cd/pushd from the shell and the commander at the same time, it bites.
Furthermore, its clipboard doesn't share X's, although I know the clipboard system is seriously fucked up in anything any Unix OS ever had, and I can't expect it to work like Win32's.
So, is there anything like Windows' FAR Manager, Norton Commander, etc. (Windows has lots of them) for Linux? (They'll say Linux is the geek OS and all that, but I've been missing good console file managers and other tools Windows has...)
If not, can you recommend of other good file managers? By good I mean:
1. Console integration. It must run a console and allow me to type stuff and see a few lines of results at least.
2. Keyboard control. Mice is for people who want to work slow.
3. Geeky. The more loaded with tools like regex file and contents search, diff, etc. the better.
