Odd Problem

Okay, so I recently reformatted my hard drive, and everything is running smoothly after installing Norton Internet Security. However, everytime I try to restart my computer, it shuts down, and then upon rebootinh brings up a DOS prompt, which after about 5 minutes will eventually bring up "Operating System not found". When I switch it off and back on again, there is no DOS prompt upon starting the computer and everything seemingly works great. I didn't have this problem before reformatting. What could be causing this?

boot off the floppy and do a full test of the drive
